🟢 This is a critical infrastructure upgrade especially in this challenging time and for the entire community. Working from home, studying online at home and many other activities are now carried out online and need reliable broadband with high speed.
🟢 My understanding is that the quality of service will be far superior than the current service, possibly 500MB/ps
I welcomed the news announced on Thursday 11th February at the Balbriggan Swords area meeting of Fingal Co Council , by a representative of National Broadband Ireland that work will commence in March 2021 to make High Speed Broadband available to many premises in Skerries Town and the rural catchment area around Skerries including Loughshinny.
The service will be available to premises that have less than 30MBps (30 megabytes per second) now. NBI know where those premises are, having done a detailed survey.
I have been lobbied by people from new st Skerries, Holmpatrick Skerries, Mourne View and Balbriggan Rd Skerries where currently Broadband service is very poor.
My home in the town centre Skerries Thomas Hand street, has 2.4MBps Broadband
Skerries Town has in many cases poor Broadband.
This Government investment project will fix that. Other areas in Rush Lusk Donabate and rural Fingal County, especially rural areas will benefit from the roll out of high-speed Broadband by NBI.
“Not one of the other political parties supported Fine Gael’s broadband plan and they sought to block it at every turn. There are remote and rural areas across Fingal where commercial providers will not invest. If Fine Gael didn’t persist with this plan, too many people and businesses in Fingal including Skerries, Loughshinny, Lusk Rush Donabate would have been left behind by the opposition.”
